To Tell Compliments to People That Know the Person in Addition to the Person is a Sacred act of Amplified Honour.
When you speak highly of someone not only to their face but also to those around them-Family, Friends, Community-You multiply the Impact of your Words. This spreads their Light further, encourages others to see the Good in Others, Nourishes their Spirit and Creates a Powerful energy Flow to the Person but through others that Returns to the one that initially Appreciates that Person. It Teaches Others to Notice the Unappreciated.
In Native American Culture, we are Taught to speak good words about others behind their backs as a Medicine against Gossip. Speaking highly of someone creates a ripple that moves through the Community. In this way, your Words become a Healing wind. In African Proverbs, it is said, “Praise a Child and they will Grow”—the same applies to Adults.
This Practice brings Honour to both the Speaker and the one being spoken about. It Heals relationships and supports those who often go unseen. It is a Powerful act of Kindness, Respect and Community Empowerment.
Prayer:
"Great Spirit,
Guide my words to uplift those I Love.
Let my Voice be used to plant Seeds of Honour.
May those I Speak of feel seen, even when they are not around.
Let my Mouth carry the Medicine of Light."
Affirmation:
“I uplift Others in every space I enter. My words echo in Love.”
Activity:
Ripple Compliment: Choose someone you admire. Then send a message, voice note, or text to someone else in their Life (a mutual friend, their parent, coworker, etc.) sharing that Compliment.
Public Praise: Next time someone impresses you, tag or speak of them on social media in a way that celebrates them publicly.
Circle of Echoes: During a gathering or Family Time, take turns sharing something Beautiful about a person who is not in the room, then send that message to them afterward.
Water Prayer Practice:
Hold Water with both hands and speak aloud:
“This water remembers good Words.
Let the words I have spoken about [Name]
Find their way into the Hearts of those who Love them.
May praise flow like Rivers-reaching every corner of their Life.”
Offer the Water to a Plant or Tree.
Cultural Tip:
In Native American Nations, Elders encourage you to “Speak well of others as if they are your Relatives,” because in Kinship-Based Systems, every word counts. In Japanese Culture, indirect Praise to others' networks is considered more Powerful than direct compliments. This action shows that Respect is not Performative-it is Spiritual Integrity.
