Your Joints are the Bridges between Bones that allow you to move, flow and respond to the World around you. When your Body becomes stiff, oyour Mind, Spirit and Emotions do too. Flexibility in the Body invites Flexibility in the Thoughts.
Daily Movement, especially that which opens the Hips, Shoulders and Spine allow Stagnant Energy to Release and New Ideas to Flow in.
Ancient Healing Traditions like Yoga, Qigong, and Ceremonial Dance always involve stretching, swaying and opening the Joints because when we open the Body, we invite in Spirit and Wisdom.
Think of your Knees, Ankles, Elbows and Wrists as Portals to Mobility, not just in Body, but also in Perspective.
When you move with Intention, you allow stuck Emotions to leave your Tissues.
This daily opening is not just for physical Health as it trains your Mind to be more adaptive, more accepting and more peaceful.
You deserve to feel Free in your Skin. You deserve to move without Pain and think without Rigidity.
Breathe deeply into your Joints and listen to what your Body is telling you.
Let every Stretch be a Prayer. Let every Movement be a Reminder that you are not stuck.
You are Alive, Connected and Capable of Transformation.
“I Open My Joints with Love and Awareness.
As My Body Expands, So Does My Mind.
I Am Flexible, Strong and Free.”
In many Indigenous Cultures, Movement is a form of Medicine. Elders teach that Rigidity in the Body creates Rigidity in the Mind, which leads to Conflict, Judgment and Illness.
Through Dances, Sweat Lodges and Animal Imitation Practices, Joints are opened and Energy is freed.
Bear Movements may awaken your Spine, Deer Movements may loosen your Hips and Eagle Arms can expand your Chest and Breath.
We are not meant to sit still all day, we are meant to Flow like the River, bend like the Tree and rise like the Sun!
“Creator, I Thank You for My Body,
For the Way My Joints Allow Me to Walk My Path.
I Ask You to Loosen What Has Become Tight in My Body, Heart and Mind.
Help Me Become More Open, Willing, and Alive.”
Place a Bowl of Water on the Ground. Sit near it and gently rotate your Ankles, Wrists and Neck in circles while looking at the water’s surface. Let the Ripples reflect the Inner Shifts happening in your Body.
Whisper:
“As this Water moves freely, so do I.”
Then dip your Fingers into the water and gently touch each major Joint: Shoulders, Elbows, Hips, Knees, Ankles. Say “I Honour you” to each one.
Pick one Joint Area (e.g., Hips) to stretch deeply today for 5–10 minutes. Use gentle, consistent movement and do Breathwork as you stretch.
Example:
Inhale for 4 counts while stretching forward, hold 2, exhale for 6 as you return.
Make it a Ceremony -light a candle, play soft music and give yourself full Presence.
In Lakota, the word “Tȟašína” means “Blanket” - something we wrap around ourselves for Warmth and Comfort.
Prompt:
“Where in my Body have I become stiff, cold, or unloving toward myself?
How can I ‘wrap’ that area in Compassion, and begin to restore Flow and Openness?”
Write your journal entry with Love. End it with a thank-you note to your Body.
